Bath time in the step well. Three men take a bath in the clean waters of the restored Toorji ka Jhalra, the famous “baori” of the blue city of Rajasthan (Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India).

Stepwells or “baoris” are ponds or wells in which the water is reached by descending a set of steps to the water level. Stepwells are examples of the many types of water storage that were developed in India, mainly to cope with seasonal fluctuations in water availability. The Jodhpur Stepwell is now the unofficial local swimming pool.

The turban basically consists of a long piece of unstitched cloth, which is wrapped around the head. Each time, the wrapping is unfolded and tied all over again. The turban used in India is usually 5 meters in length.
