Sadhu with a blank stare
Sadhu with a blank stare. A sadhu with a blank stare seems to be in a deep state of meditation in the holy city of Rishikesh, also known as Hrishikesh, the “Yoga Capital of the World” (Uttarakhand, India).
Sadhus are ascetics who have renounced material attachments in order to practice yoga and meditation in search of personal power and higher knowledge.
They are sometimes alternatively referred to as yogi. Although the vast majority of sadhus are yogis, not all yogis are sadhus. Sadhus are solely dedicated to achieving mokṣa (liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth), the fourth and final aśrama (stage of life), through meditation and contemplation of Brahman.
