India is the second-largest brick producer in the world. In India, almost all brick kilns run on coal. The brick industry is the largest user of coal in India after thermal power plants and the iron and steel industry. So India’s brick industry is a major cause of pollution in the country. The future use of cleaner fuel, such as natural gas instead of coal, could help to reverse the current environmental situation.
